Accessing SEO Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Online Store
  2. Open the SEO & Social section (you may need to scroll down)
  3. Configure your settings across the different fields
  4. Click “Save” to apply

Note: You need permission to edit branding settings to change these options.

Business Classification

Help search engines and customers understand what type of business you are.

Business Type

Select the category that best describes your business:

Cuisine Types

Add cuisine types to help customers find your business when searching for specific food.

  • How to add: Type a cuisine type and click “Add” or press Enter
  • Examples: Italian, Pizza, Pasta, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Vegetarian
  • Removes easily: Click the X on any tag to remove it
  • No limit: Add as many relevant cuisines as apply to your menu

Best practices:

  • Be specific: “Wood-fired Pizza” rather than just “Pizza”
  • Include dietary options: “Vegetarian”, “Vegan”, “Gluten-free”
  • Match customer searches: Think about what people search for

Meta Tags

Configure how your storefront appears in search engine results.

Meta Description

The description that appears below your page title in search results.

  • Maximum length: 320 characters
  • Character counter: Shows current length as you type
  • Purpose: Summarise your business to encourage clicks
  • Where it appears: Search engine results pages (SERPs)

Writing tips:

  • Include your location and cuisine type
  • Mention unique selling points
  • Include a call to action (e.g., “Order online now”)
  • Make it compelling and accurate

Example:

Authentic Italian pizza and pasta in Manchester. Fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and fast delivery. Order online for collection or delivery.

Keywords

Comma-separated keywords that describe your business.

  • Maximum length: 255 characters
  • Format: Separate with commas
  • Purpose: Help search engines understand your content

Example:

pizza, delivery, italian food, manchester, takeaway, pasta, calzone

Note: While keywords have less impact on modern SEO than they once did, they can still help with site search and categorisation.

SEO Features

Toggle advanced SEO capabilities on or off.

Schema.org Structured Data

Add JSON-LD markup to help search engines understand your business, menu, and location.

  • What it does: Adds invisible code that search engines can read
  • Benefits: Enables rich results (star ratings, price range, hours)
  • Recommended: Always on for better search visibility

Rich results can include:

  • Business name and type
  • Address and opening hours
  • Price range indicator
  • Cuisine types
  • Customer ratings (if available)

Open Graph Tags

Control how your storefront appears when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms.

  • What it does: Provides social platforms with title, description, and image
  • Benefits: Professional-looking shares that encourage clicks
  • Recommended: On if you share your storefront on social media

Twitter Cards

Customise how your storefront appears when shared on X (Twitter).

  • What it does: Provides Twitter with optimised preview content
  • Benefits: Attractive tweet previews with images and descriptions
  • Recommended: On if you or customers share on Twitter

Social Sharing

Configure the content shown when your storefront is shared on social media. This section only appears when Open Graph or Twitter Cards are enabled.

Share Title

The title shown when your storefront is shared.

  • Default: Uses your business name if left empty
  • Maximum length: 255 characters
  • Best practice: Keep it short and compelling

Share Description

The description shown when your storefront is shared.

  • Maximum length: 320 characters
  • Character counter: Shows current length
  • Default: Falls back to meta description if empty
  • Best practice: Write specifically for social sharing

Twitter Handle

Your business Twitter/X handle for attribution.

  • Format: @yourbusiness
  • Purpose: Links shares back to your official account
  • Only shown: When Twitter Cards are enabled
