The Problem

The morning rush problem

You bake based on guesswork. Regulars miss out on their favourites. Phone orders interrupt service. There's a better way.

Wasted stock

Baking blind

You bake what you think will sell. Some days you're right. Some days the sourdough sits and the sausage rolls run out by 9am.

Phone chaos

Interruptions all day

Custom cake orders, collection times, "do you have any croissants left?" Phone ringing while you're serving the counter.

Disappointed regulars

Sold out again

Your best customers come in and their favourite is gone. They can't reserve ahead. They just have to hope.

Bakeries run on rhythm. Pre-orders help you plan ahead.

The Solution

Pre-orders change how you bake

See tomorrow's orders tonight. Bake with confidence. Give regulars a way to guarantee what they want.

Flexible scheduling windows

Disable ASAP orders entirely and accept pre-orders only. Set your window—orders from tomorrow for the next 3 days, for example. Customers plan ahead, you bake to order.

Variants and options

Sizes, flavours, decorations, messages. Handle custom cakes with proper options instead of phone calls and sticky notes.

Customer accounts

Regulars save their details. They reorder quickly. You see their history and preferences.

Flat monthly fee

No commission on orders. Pay the same whether you take 10 pre-orders or 100. Simple, predictable pricing.

Under the hood

Built for the way a bakery actually runs

Not a stripped-back order form. The details that let you bake to a list instead of a guess — and quietly turn a one-off loaf into a standing order.

Bake to a list, not a guess

Switch to scheduled-only and set a minimum notice — say next day — so every order is a pre-order. Customers pick a collection time in 15-minute slots up to 30 days ahead, and you walk in to a prep list instead of a hunch.

"Your order's ready" by text

Automatic email and SMS confirmations when an order's placed, and again when it's ready to collect. The birthday cake gets picked up on time — without you chasing it or the phone ringing mid-bake.

Sell the last sourdough once

Put stock counts on the day's bakes. As orders come in the count drops, and when an item hits zero it comes off the storefront automatically — so you never take an order for a loaf you've already sold out of.

Allergens customers can see

Tag every bake with its allergens and they show clearly on your storefront and a dedicated allergens page. Customers order with confidence, and your counter staff field fewer "is there nuts in this?" questions.

Turn first-timers into regulars

Run automatic deals: a first-order discount, a free loaf on every fifth order, end-of-day pricing on what's left. Set the rules once and they apply themselves at checkout — no codes for customers to remember.

Already on Square? Stay there

Online orders sync straight into your Square register with two-way status updates, and card payments run through your existing Square account. One till, one view of the counter and the pre-order book.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I accept pre-orders only and switch off same-day ordering?

Yes. Set your timing mode to Scheduled Only and ASAP orders are turned off completely — customers can't order for immediate pickup, only book ahead. Add a minimum notice (for example, tomorrow) so you've always got time to bake, and the storefront shows an 'advance booking required' message with time selection.

How far ahead can customers place a pre-order?

You decide. Set the maximum advance booking anywhere from a couple of hours up to 30 days, and customers pick a collection time in 15-minute slots within that window. Slots respect your opening hours and prep times, and the last slot of the day closes early enough that the order is ready before you do.

Can customers order custom cakes with sizes, flavours and a message?

Yes. Add modifiers and variants to any product — sizes, sponge flavours, fillings, decorations — plus a free-text box for the inscription or special requests. The full spec comes through with the order, so there's no phone tag and nothing lost on a sticky note.

What happens when a bake sells out during the day?

Put a stock count on the item and it drops as orders come in. When it hits zero the bake comes off your storefront automatically, so customers only ever see what's actually available and you never take an order for a loaf you've already sold out of.

Can I show allergen information on my bakes?

Yes. Tag each product with its allergens and they're displayed clearly on the item and on a dedicated allergens page, so customers can order with confidence and your counter staff field fewer questions.

Are there any per-order commissions?

No. TypeMenu charges a flat monthly subscription with zero commission on your orders. The only additional cost is standard card processing fees from your payment provider — Stripe is built in with simple onboarding, and if you use Square POS, payments go through Square instead.

Do I need any special hardware?

No. Everything runs in the browser — your dashboard, your order screen, and your customers' storefront. Any phone, tablet, or computer you already have in the shop will work.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. You can cancel directly from your dashboard at any time, and your storefront stays active until the end of your billing period.
