Customisations

Customisations let customers personalise their order by choosing extras, sides, preferences, or cooking styles. These can be optional or required, and you can offer single or multiple choices depending on what makes sense for the product.

Use customisations to upsell extras, reduce mistakes, and improve clarity during order prep.

Common Use Cases

  • Toppings: Add cheese, jalapeños, mushrooms
  • Sauces: Choose dip or condiment
  • Spice Level: Mild, medium, hot
  • Sides: Chips, salad, rice

Selection Types

Each customisation group can be set to:

  • Single choice – one option must or may be selected
  • Multiple choice – customers can select more than one
  • Required – must choose at least one to continue

Where They Apply

Customisations can be applied at different levels:

  • Product-level: Applies to all variants of the product
(e.g. “Choose Dip” for every size of Chicken Wings)
  • Variant-level: Applies only to specific versions
(e.g. “Stuffed Crust” available only on Large Pizza)

You can assign the same customisation groups to multiple products, which helps keep things consistent and easier to manage.

A common approach is to use product-level customisations for fixed-price add-ons—like dips, fries, or breads—that apply the same way regardless of size. For variant-level customisations, where pricing might differ by size or version (like extra cheese on a pizza), it's better to attach them to each variant individually. That way, you can set different prices for each add-on depending on the product size.
