Integrated Payments

To start accepting payments online, you’ll need to connect a Stripe account. Stripe is our preferred payment processor and powers secure, direct payments to your bank account.

Stripe is widely used, well-supported, and offers competitive rates similar to other e-commerce platforms. You’ll have full control over your payouts, refunds, and account settings directly within Stripe.

While there’s some onboarding required, using Stripe through TypeMenu is significantly simpler than sourcing and integrating your own payment provider from scratch.

What You Can Expect

Once connected, Stripe gives you:

  • Direct payments to your bank account
  • Access to a secure payment dashboard
  • Full visibility into sales, payouts, refunds, and chargebacks
  • PCI-compliant checkout experience for customers
  • Fast setup (most users can start taking payments within the same day)

How to Connect Stripe

You have three ways to get started. All options give you full control over your funds and account.

Option 1: Register for a Stripe Express Account (Recommended)

This is the fastest and simplest way to get up and running.

  1. Click Register Now inside the TypeMenu dashboard
  2. Complete the Stripe onboarding form (approx. 5–10 minutes)

You’ll be asked for basic legal and business details:

  • Mobile number (Stripe will send a verification code)
  • Business type (Individual, Company, Non-Profit)
  • Structure (e.g. Sole Trader, Private Ltd)
  • Business name, trading name (if different)
  • Company registration number (if applicable)
  • Business address
  • Industry – typically Other Food and Dining

Once complete, your Stripe Express account will be created and connected automatically. You can access your Stripe dashboard using the Open Payment Dashboard button. Stripe will also send onboarding emails with further info and verification steps.

✅ Most vendors can start accepting payments later the same day.

Option 2: Use an Existing Stripe Account

Already have a Stripe account? No problem.

You can link it by contacting our support team at [email protected]. Include your Stripe Account ID (your acc_ ID, note this is usually not your cus_ ID, check Stripe’s account settings). We’ll connect it on your behalf and notify you once it’s ready.

Option 3: Register with Stripe Directly

If you prefer to create a Stripe account yourself outside of TypeMenu:

  1. Go to stripe.com and sign up
  2. Once your account is active, email [email protected] with your Stripe Account ID
  3. We’ll link it to your storefront for you

This is useful if you want to complete the process directly with Stripe and set up additional capabilities (e.g. multi-currency, connected apps) before going live.

About Stripe & Integrated Payments

Stripe securely handles all card transactions and takes care of compliance with PCI-DSS and other financial regulations. That means no need for separate PCI paperwork, no terminal rental, and no monthly fee just to accept payments.

With TypeMenu, you only pay when you get paid. There are no fixed costs to enable card payments—just transaction-based fees that are in line with other major providers.

We charge a 0.6% platform fee on card transactions, and Stripe’s standard rates apply based on your region:

  • 🇬🇧 UK: ~1.4% + 20p for domestic cards
  • 🇪🇺 EU: ~1.5% + €0.25 for EU cards
  • 🇺🇸 USA: ~2.9% + 30¢
  • 🇨🇦 Canada: ~2.9% + C$0.30
  • 🇦🇺 Australia: ~1.75% + A$0.30
  • 🇳🇿 New Zealand: ~2.9% + NZ$0.30

For a typical £25 online order in the UK, the total cost—including Stripe and TypeMenu fees—is around £0.70. Most businesses cover this by adding a Platform Fee or Online Ordering Fee at checkout, usually between £0.50 and £1.00, which customers generally accept without issue.

You can view all transactions, manage payouts, issue refunds, and handle disputes directly from your Stripe Dashboard, accessible through your TypeMenu admin panel.
