Storefront Apps
Storefront apps add third-party tracking and analytics code to your ordering storefront without you touching any code. Install an app, paste in the ID from the provider, and TypeMenu adds the base code to your storefront pages.
Plan requirement
Storefront apps run on your ordering storefront, so they are part of the Operate plan (and the Operate trial). On the Free plan the Integrations page is not available.
What Storefront Apps Do
Each app injects a provider’s standard “base code” into your storefront. At the moment every app records page views only — purchase, add-to-cart and checkout events are not sent yet, and each app page says so under Integration Point.
The code is added to the pages that use the main storefront layout: your menu, cart, login, registration and account pages. The checkout page uses its own slimmed-down layout and does not load app code. Apps never run in the admin panel or on your public allergens page.
Available Apps
| App | Category | Field you need | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Pixel | Tracking Pixel | Pixel ID | Meta Events Manager → Data Sources (a 15–16 digit number) |
| Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Measurement ID | Google Analytics → Admin → Data Streams (starts with G-) |
| Google Tag Manager | Analytics | Container ID | Shown at the top of your GTM workspace (starts with GTM-) |
| TikTok Pixel | Tracking Pixel | Pixel Code | TikTok Ads Manager → Events → your Pixel → Settings |
| Snapchat Pixel | Tracking Pixel | Pixel ID | Snapchat Ads Manager → Events Manager |
| Pinterest Tag | Tracking Pixel | Tag ID | Pinterest Ads Manager → Conversions |
| Square POS | POS | None — OAuth connect | See Square POS Integration |
Square POS appears in the same marketplace but works differently: it connects to your Square account rather than injecting code, and it needs the POS integrations feature. This guide covers the tracking and analytics apps; everything about Square lives in its own article.
Google Ads
There is no separate Google Ads app. If you run Google Ads, install Google Tag Manager and add your Google Ads tag inside your GTM container. Because TypeMenu currently fires page views only, GTM can support page-view based remarketing and conversions, but not purchase-value conversions.
Installing an App
- Go to Settings → Integrations
- Use Search apps… or the category buttons to find the app, then click its card
- In the Configuration card, enter the field the app asks for (for example Measurement ID)
- Click Install App
You will see an App Installed card showing when it was installed and by whom, together with two badges: Configured (or Configuration Required) and Enabled (or Disabled). New installs are enabled straight away.
Tip
Every app page has a Setup Instructions card with the provider’s steps for finding your ID, plus Website, Docs, Support and Privacy links under Developer.
ID formats
TypeMenu checks the format of some IDs before saving:
- Meta Pixel ID — 15 or 16 digits
- Google Analytics 4 Measurement ID —
G-followed by 10–12 letters or digits - Google Tag Manager Container ID —
GTM-followed by 6–8 letters or digits
If a value is rejected, copy it again from the provider — extra spaces or a different ID type (such as a GA4 property ID instead of the Measurement ID) are the usual causes. All fields are also checked for unsafe content.
Managing Installed Apps
Go to Settings → Integrations and click the Installed button to open Installed Apps. Apps are grouped under Enabled Apps and Disabled Apps, and any app missing a required field is marked Needs configuration.
- Turn an app on or off — use the switch on the card, or open the app and click Disable / Enable. A disabled app keeps its settings but injects nothing.
- Change an ID — open the app, edit the field and click Save Changes.
- Uninstall — open the app, click the bin icon, then confirm Uninstall in the “Uninstall …?” dialog. This removes the app and all its settings; its code is no longer injected into your storefront.
Changes take effect on the next storefront page load.
Where the Code Is Injected
Each app’s page shows its Integration Point. All of the tracking apps use Storefront Head (“Code injected into the <head> section of the storefront”). A few apps also add a small noscript fallback: Google Tag Manager and Meta Pixel just after the opening <body> tag, and Pinterest Tag just before the closing </body> tag.
An app only injects code when it is both enabled and fully configured.
Cookie Consent and Privacy
Your storefront shows a cookie consent banner, but app code is not held back until a visitor accepts — the base code loads with the page. Make sure your storefront privacy policy covers the trackers you install; see Legal Settings. The app page reminds you of this with: “This app injects code into your storefront. Make sure you trust the developer before installing.”
Permissions
Four permissions control apps: view apps, install apps, configure apps and uninstall apps. Owners and managers have all four. If you can see the Integrations page but not the Install App button, ask your account owner for the install permission.
Troubleshooting
The tag is not firing
- Check the app shows Enabled and Configured on Installed Apps — an app marked Needs configuration injects nothing
- Confirm you are testing a menu, cart or account page, not the checkout page
- Reload the storefront — the previous page may have been loaded before you saved
- Check the ID itself in the provider’s own debugging tool (for example Meta Pixel Helper or GA4 DebugView)
I can see page views but no purchases
That is expected for now. Only page views are sent; purchase, add-to-cart and checkout events are not yet supported by any storefront app.
I cannot open Settings → Integrations
Your plan does not include Apps & Integrations (it is part of Operate), or your user does not have the view apps permission. See Plans & Subscription.
FAQ
Can I add my own custom script or HTML? No. Only the apps listed in the marketplace can be installed; there is no custom code app.
Can I install an app for just one location? No. Apps are installed for the whole business and run on your storefront for every location.
Is there a Google Ads or Hotjar app? Not as separate apps. Use Google Tag Manager to deploy other tags through your GTM container.
