The Problem

Counter service only goes so far

Phone calls for special orders, queues on Saturday morning, regulars missing out when popular cuts sell out. Sound familiar?

Phone orders

Interruptions all day

"Can you do me a 3kg rib for Sunday?" Phone rings while you're serving customers. Details get lost. Time gets wasted.

Saturday queues

Everyone comes at once

Weekend mornings are chaos. Counter backs up. Special orders need prepping. Customers wait while you cut to order.

Sold out

Regulars miss out

Your best customers can't guarantee they'll get what they came for. Steaks gone. Lamb sold out. They couldn't reserve ahead.

Quality butchery takes time. Pre-orders let you prepare properly.

The Solution

Pre-orders work for butchers

Know what's needed before customers arrive. Prep custom cuts in advance. Have orders ready for collection.

Custom cuts online

Weights, cuts, thickness, quantity—customers specify exactly what they need. No phone calls, no misunderstandings.

Flexible scheduling windows

Disable ASAP orders and accept pre-orders only. Set your window—orders from tomorrow for the next 3 days, for example. Customers order ahead, you prep with time to spare.

Regular customer accounts

Customers save their details and reorder easily. You see their preferences and history. Build real relationships.

Flat monthly fee

No commission on orders. Pay the same whether you take 5 pre-orders or 50. Simple, predictable pricing.

Under the hood

Built for the way a butcher's shop actually runs

Not a stripped-back order form. The details that keep the counter moving on a Saturday — and make sure your regulars always get the cut they came for.

Take the Christmas rush weeks early

Customers book a collection time in 15-minute slots, from a couple of hours out to 30 days ahead. Set lead and prep times and TypeMenu only offers slots you can hit — so the turkeys, festive joints and weekend orders spread across the days instead of all landing at Saturday's counter.

Sell the last dry-aged ribeye once

Put stock counts on limited cuts — the aged steaks, the weekend lamb, the festive birds. As orders come in the quantity drops, and once a cut's gone it comes off your storefront automatically — so you never take an order for a joint you've already promised someone else.

"Your order's ready" by text

Automatic email and SMS confirmations when an order's placed, and again when it's ready to collect. Fewer phone calls interrupting the counter, and regulars who know their Sunday joint is cut and waiting.

Reward the customers who come every week

Run automatic deals: money off a first order, a freezer-fill discount on bulk boxes, a reward on every fifth shop. Set the rules once and they apply themselves at checkout, with no codes for anyone to remember.

Allergens and labelling, on the page

Tag products with their allergen information and it shows clearly on a dedicated allergens page. For made-to-order items like sausage mixes and marinated cuts, customers see exactly what's in them before they buy.

Already on Square? Stay there

Online orders sync straight into your Square register with two-way status updates, and card payments run through your existing Square account. One till, one view of the counter and the web.

FAQ

Common questions

Can customers order custom cuts — specific weights, thickness and quantity?

Yes. Add modifier options to any product for weight, thickness, cut and quantity, plus a free-text box for anything unusual — 'butterfly the leg', 'trim the fat', 'cut into four steaks'. The order comes through exactly as the customer specified, so there's no phone call and nothing lost in translation.

Can regulars reserve their cuts for the weekend so they don't miss out?

Yes. Switch on scheduled ordering and customers pick a collection day and time — their Sunday joint, the Saturday BBQ order — in 15-minute slots up to 30 days ahead. You see what's reserved in advance and prep it fresh, and your best customers never arrive to find their cut sold out.

Can I take Christmas and seasonal pre-orders in advance?

Yes. Set your timing to scheduled-only and open collection slots up to 30 days ahead — ideal for turkeys, festive joints and Easter lamb. Customers book and pay in advance, and you get a clear prep list for each day instead of a scramble at the counter.

How do I stop selling cuts I've run out of?

Put stock counts on limited items like aged steaks, whole birds or the weekend's lamb. As orders come in the available quantity drops, and once a cut is gone it comes off your storefront automatically — so you never take an order you can't fulfil.

Can I show allergen and labelling information for things like sausages and marinades?

Yes. Tag each product with its allergen information and it's displayed clearly on a dedicated allergens page on your storefront. For made-to-order items like sausage mixes or marinated cuts, customers can see exactly what's in them before they order.

Are there any per-order commissions?

No. TypeMenu is a flat monthly subscription with zero commission on your orders, whether you take five a week or fifty. The only extra is standard card processing from your payment provider — Stripe is built in, or payments run through Square if you use Square POS. Those fees go to your provider, not to us.

Do I need any special hardware?

No. Everything runs in the browser — your dashboard, your order list and your customers' storefront. Any phone, tablet or computer you already have behind the counter will work.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. You can cancel from your dashboard at any time, and your storefront stays active until the end of your billing period.
